I had always imagined finding my peace in some majestic, glorious moment that would cause an overnight life-altering experience. Unfortunately, that is not how it played out. It was going to take more than the wave of a magic wand to begin to make the necessary changes to find my ultimate peace…my mental cloud 9.
Finding peace in this life is different for everyone. Knowing that each person has their own definition of peace. The dictionary defines peace as freedom from disturbance; a state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended. Has the war in your mind ended? Is your mind free from disturbances? If not, then you still have an internal war to fight.
I realized that in order for us to find true peace, we have to go through a great deal of uneasiness. We become used to being comfortable. We don’t like the feeling of being uncomfortable. Yet, we fail to see that in that time of uncomfort, it keeps us from becoming stagnant.
We see that in this life, the things that really have meaning, are not easy to attain. They require some work and discipline on our part daily. For example, in order to have a successful relationship, you have to work at it daily. In order to be healthy, you have to work out daily. If you want to have freedom mentally, you have to work at it daily.
How hard are you willing to work on yourself to be a better version of yourself? You have to believe you are worth the work. It is a daily process, but as time goes on and you get to know yourself better, the things that seemed impossible before, start to slowly become possible.
As you go through this journey, you are going to deal head on with a lot of uneasy and uncomfortable situations and it’s okay. In order for you to grow and reach your ultimate peace, it is going to be an uncomfortable ride. They are what I call actual “growing pains” of life.
Growing hurts, but only in the moment. Growing elevates you and makes you stronger. Just as pain occurs when your bones are growing and stretching, so your mind goes through the same. It is also a muscle and training it to do something new hurts, but in that hurt there is growth and elevation.
Reaching your goals and becoming a better version of you is worth all the pains you go through. It pays off, and in ways that you would never imagine. Discovering who you really are and your purpose gives you an unimaginable freedom. Freedom to just be you.
Moving forward, find peace in your uneasiness. See it as an opportunity instead of a setback. That uncomfortable feeling is what we need at times to make sure we stay on our toes. Never settle. Always strive to continue growing and elevating yourself daily. It is the uneasiness that will ultimately lead you to your place of peace. Your mental cloud 9…
