Young or old, rich or poor, big or small, black or white. We are all searching for one thing-Mental Peace. We all seek it in different places and on different faces. The one big key we miss when it comes to our MEntal peace is that it always starts with ME!
For so many years, I gave control of my mind over to others who did not deserve that part of me. Yet, I found myself handing it over, time and time again. Each time, I received it back more damaged than the last. I never saw the ME in my MEntal Health.
I have spoken many times about the realization of having to deal with myself and how although it was the toughest 2 years of my life, it was also the most eye-opening. Having to look at my flaws and weaknesses laid out in front of me, was painful and I fought myself for so long.
I also realized that in order to begin to move forward, I had to learn to forgive myself. Do not make excuses for me, but take a step back, see where I am broken, and take any steps necessary to fix and heal. Sounds simple-yet every day is a battle with myself that I am choosing to win. Some days, I am pushed but not crushed.
Finding Mental peace is a daily choice that I have to make. Some days are harder than others, but I continue to make my MEntal health a priority. You must choose to put your MEntal health first. You must be a full cup that overflows for others to find hope.
I understand that finding mental peace comes differently for everyone. Each person has their understanding of true mental peace. Some are able to find it and others unfortunately are not. But if you are one of those seeking to find rest, you are not alone. There are so many others on that same journey to find the same rest.
Just remember that only you can create the standards and boundaries that are going to bring peace to your life. You have value, you have worth. You are important and are needed to help complete this big web of life that somehow ties us all together.
Thanks for sharing such a valid post. Self care is vital to our mental health!
